About the Centre ...

The Holbrook Centre for Autism provides specialist education and care for children and young people with autism and learning disabilities aged 5 – 19.

Currently the centre has the capacity for 52 students, taught across 11 class groups.  Each class has its own base and access to a range of specialist teaching areas including Food Technology, ICT, sports hall, library, Polytunnel, and sensory room.

The Centre aims to provide high-quality specialist education to meet the individual needs of each pupil.  The staff receive up-to-date and relevant training and the Centre is well supported by the LEA. Each pupil has a thorough assessment, usually prior to admission. Progress and achievements are carefully tracked and recorded throughout the pupil’ s time in the Centre.

Residential Units

At present, the Centre's residential accommodation comprises of two units within the main building. Both are self-contained with single bedrooms, bathrooms and showers and with kitchens, dining areas and lounges. As part of their independent living skills pupils are involved in planning, shopping for and cooking their own meals. By joining the pupils at meal times staff can encourage healthy eating and assist with table skills as part of a care plan.
